My Thoughts

So, I really liked this book. I even shaved off my beard so I could tape my mouth shut and I haven’t used the CPAP ever since. Truly life changing.

Recommendation

Great book.

My Thoughts

This book was heavily sought after and so I wanted to see what was so good about it. It seems to be without any kind of gratitude or spirit of service so I can imagine she has a long row to hoe. In short, it felt like she just whines through the whole thing.

Recommendation

If you are looking for inspiration, look somewhere else. I didn’t care for it.

My Thoughts

Great book and very thought provoking. It makes me wonder how much civilization we could find just off the coast of Alaska… The book talks about different waves of inhabitants based on the information we have so far. I wonder what more we can learn as we get new information.

Recommendation

Great read.

My Thoughts

There were so many things I didn’t know about Bin Laden and his life. I didn’t know how well connected he was or how much money he had or much about his family and so on. I was glad I took the time to learn more. It did make me wish he was taken down much earlier on.

Recommendation

A good read if you are interested.

My Thoughts

Honestly, I didn’t like this book. The concepts are fine but I feel like the author goes well beyond the mark to make points. There were a few places where it was obvious he hadn’t done his research and was just speaking out of religious prejudice.

Recommendation

There were a few gems but I was disappointed in the read.

The Diary of a Young Girl

Background

This book is usually referenced as the Diary of Anne Frank. Originally, this book came to life from her father publishing the pages she used as a diary in 1947. Since then there has been a number of editions and translations. The first copy was edited by her father which is interesting given the light Anne painted her mother in and how her father was depicted.

My Thoughts

Of course, this was a depressing book because we already knew the ending. However, it paints a vivid picture of people just trying to get by while being hunted by the Nazi regime. This is more poignant as it comes from the perspective a young girl.

Recommendation

An important read but not a pleasant one.

Elon Musk

Background

Elon Musk is rightly called the real Iron Man with his superhuman like abilities to obsess over every detail and make it right. He allowed this autobiography in 2015 and his story kept on going from there. (This is well before his buying of Twitter.)

My Thoughts

I think the comparison with Tony Stark and Elon Musk is more appropriate after I read the book. I’m very thankful for the products and services he is providing but I likely wouldn’t enjoy spending time with him. He is an incredibly driven individual and it is amazing what he has accomplished. Also, I wanted a Tesla before. Now I REALLY want a Tesla. However, I’m far too cheap…

Recommendation

Great book but so much has happened since 2015.

This book was a joy to re-read. Mostly to freshen up on a bunch of things I don’t do well. This book needs to be on the shelves of every married man.

My Thoughts

Bill Bryson did an excellent job of going through the body parts and inserting humor along the way. Mr. Bryson is not a doctor (which my wife correctly pointed out) but a researcher who brought it all under the same topic. I believe he did a good job.

Recommendation

It was worth the time and effort to get through it.
